Excellent tool, especially with a little polish.

I’m not a drawknife expert. I have a full size one that was my grandfather’s that is amazing. I have a small one from Beavercraft that is a good tool but I don’t like the handles. And I have this one that is really, really handy. It is small, but big enough to handle most things my full size one would. It is easily packable, feels good in the hands, and it cuts well. I have two small issues. One is the angle of the blade is a little steep for what I use a drawknife for. I may regrind it or I may not in the future. Second, the finish on the drawknife was a little rough for my taste, especially around the handles. It was entirely useable and looked very bushcrafty and rustic. A little sandpaper and file work made it much more finished. See the picture. All in all, this is a great tool for the money. With a blade guard you can easily stick this in a pack, haversack, cargo pants pocket, or even the back pocket of your jeans. The spine has a nice ninety degree edge for use on a ferro rod or even with flint. In a pinch you could use it with a baton to process firewood. I intend to use it for spoon carving and bow making while out in the woods but it could be used for a lot of things with a little ingenuity. Gramercy tools has a comparable spokeshave for over twice as much money (I’m sure it is an excellent tool, as well) but is also a tad bit smaller. All in all, this is an amazing tool for the money. Highly recommended.
