Black Bear

This is such a great knife! Razor sharp as with all PKS knives. Great feel, performs extremely well in all tasks. Super happy with this knife!

I just got my knife about a week or so ago and it is as sweet as I imagined in my dreams waiting for it. I ordered it on September 11th, received it on December 4th, pretty early in the estimated 6-12 weeks given for the preorder. It came sharp and it came with an equally sweet and stout sheath. I look forward to having this for years to come as my everyday carry belt knife. Highly recommend it!

I purchased this knife in 2018 with the walnut scales. I have used it on many occasions for general bushcraft and camp crafting chores. It also makes for an excellent firecraft knive. With the scandi-grind blade it lends well to making feather sticks and the sharp 90 degree spine will produce fine wood shavings and throw sparks from a ferro rod with ease . It has become my go-to crafting blade. It's not too big or too small fits my hands(med.-Lg.) well and comfortably. I purchased it together with the PKS Grizzly and IMHO they make an excellent choice for a pair of knives for bushcraft/survival, complementing each other very well. Also, SRO's customer service is second to none. Buy with confidence

I posted the February 13, 2020 review of the Mountain Lion. My Black Bear just arrived today. Honestly, I'm stunned at the quality and craftsmanship of this knife too. The blade on this knife, compared with the Mountain Lion, is about an inch shorter and it's not as thick as that on the Mountain Lion, so the overall weight of this knife is less. That said, the Black Bear is absolutely awesome. This thing balances perfectly. It's razor sharp and the spine is just as sharp as that on the Mountain Lion. I cut some fat wood sticks with it tonight and the blade just slides into the wood like it was butter. I just don't know what else to say except that it's going to be difficult deciding which of the two knives, the Black Bear or the Mountain Lion, I want to take into the field on any given day. Whoever designed these PKS knives is a genius. Whoever you are, I take my hat off for you. You don't find quality like this in the world these days. Kudos!
